Day 12

Last Day Riding-

After running thru most of Kansas and a good part of Missouri and Arkansas, we found a Park & Ride right off Interstate 40, closest to Mt. Magazine and only 5 miles from the head of the Pigs Trail.

We unloaded the bike...

...and head toward Mt. Magazine...

...it's about an hour ride to get there...

...and we thoroughly enjoyed...

...every curve in the road!

Here is a map to give a bit of an idea of the road...it goes up to the top of the mountain, and then down the other side. Some sections of the road are 18 degrees!

We went up the slightly straighter side (from the north) and right on down the crooked steeper side.

It was a blast...

...I've ridden here before, but it's Mary's first time.

We then went back up it...

Oh, here's a nice welcome sign-

...enjoying all the curves...

...again, from a different angle.

Not the Rockies, but a fun road for sure!

We stopped at this sign, which is across from a scenic outlook...

...Time to get out the drone...

...Amazing...

...the change in perspective.

Time to...

...come back...

...and ride some more.

We've had 3 different deer run across the road in front of us on Mt. Magazine...this is the best photo we got of one of them.

Riding around the top of the mountain...

...enjoying the roads, woods, scenery...

...it really is nice up here.

We stopped at another scenic lookout...

...decided to eat our lunch there...

...absolutely....

...spectacular views.

Taking a break while walking back up to the bike.

Back down the mountain, across some farmland, heading back...saw this sign...I would guess so!

We've seen some bad flooding in Missouri and Nebraska on this trip. Arkansas has some also...

...thousands upon thousands of acres of farmland underwater. Up ahead, to the right...that is NOT supposed to be a river, that is farmland, all underwater.

Crossing the actual river now...

...we're going to take Interstate 40 for about 5 miles to get to the Pigs Trail.

Ever since the snow...

...been thinking about riding this road...

...don't know how many times we've ridden it, a bunch...

...but it is tons of fun every time!

Here we go!

This is a fun road!

 A fellow traveler...

...enjoying this great riding road!

Fun ahead sign!

Looks like more than a few cars had a bit of trouble.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this trail.

Mary took 874 photos today...

...I am only going to post a few more...

...tractor in road...

...always gotta be on the lookout. Beautiful road, but could be hiding any number of critters...

...only 10 more miles or so before we turn around to head back.

This trip is coming to a close...

...enjoying this last hour or so on the Pig Trail...

...fantastic day of riding, and Mary caught this squirrel zipping across the road!

Can't tell you how much fun...

...it is to ride...

...in these parts...

...if you have not made it to the Ozarks, it is filled with roads like this. Give it a go if you can.

Back to the Park & Ride. Time to head home.
