COVID-19 SHIPPING NOTICE

 

Quick Facts For USA Customers:

 

  • We are still shipping 98% of our orders within 1 business day

 

  • United Parcel Service (UPS) is delivering at near normal speed

 

  • USPS Priority Mail is delivering VERY SLOWLY.  Most packages are still getting delivered, but instead of the normal 3-5 days for domestic (lower 48 States), many packages are taking 12-15 days, and some even longer.

  • If you need your package quickly, UPS is the better option.

 

  • USPS Priority Mail is less expensive on most orders, but be aware that it will probably take longer to arrive.

 

  • Realistic Expectations-  DK Custom has No Control over the Post Office.  We only have control over how fast we get the package to them.

 

  • Realistic Expectations- Currently USPS does not consider a Priority Mail Package to be late until 16 days after shipment.  We cannot make any inquiry on the status of your package until 16 days after we ship it.

  • USPS Priority Mail is delivering VERY SLOWLY.  Most packages are still getting delivered, but instead of the normal 7-10 days, many packages are taking 30 - 45 days, and some even longer.

  • Currently USPS does not consider an International Priority Mail Package to be late until 31 days after shipment.  We cannot make any inquiry on the status of your package until 31 days after we ship it.

DK Custom Priority from day one, is to ship quickly and accurately.  We are still doing that.  But USPS is dropping the ball big-time, and we have no control over that.

 

Unfortunately with the world-wide pandemic it is making most packages take much longer to arrive.

 

This leads Customers to, understandably, ask us where their package is. 

With UPS, this is no problem. 

But with Priority Mail, we simply don’t know, and can’t even try and find out, until after 16 day on Domestic and 31 days on International.

 

This is a hard pill to swallow.  We have shipped hundreds of thousands of packages via Priority Mail over the years.  99.5% of them always arrived within 3-5 days, and if they didn’t we could check on them and get it resolved quickly.  (either find the package or do an insurance claim and resend the package)

 

Those days no longer exist. Hopefully Priority Mail will get back to where it was...but it is not there now, nor will it be anytime soon.

 

It is Important to change expectations about Priority Mail Delivery Time Frames!

 

What used to normally be 3-5 days, and sometimes surprise us with 1-2 day delivery….that is a PRE-COVID-19 Reality.

 

CURRENT REALITY is 7-15 days is typical, and we will sometimes be surprised with a 3-5 day delivery time.

 

 

What about the package I or my friend got just last week...it was Priority Mail and only took 3 days?

Not all packages are delayed, just a big % of them.  Just because some are being delivered timely does not mean they all are.  Location of shipment origination and destination also has an effect, especially as certain USPS Hubs get hit harder with COVID related employee absences.

 

 

What about Express Mail?

Express mail used to be a way to get a package delivered within 1-2 days.  Over 6 months ago the USPS announced that they are no longer guaranteeing those delivery times.  In fact, we experienced Express Mail packages sometimes taking longer than Priority Mail.  At that time we discontinued offering the Express Mail option.

 

Hopefully, at some point in the future Express Mail will be a valid option to get a fast delivery again.

 

Once we’ve shipped your package (which is usually within hours of placing your order) we cannot change from USPS to UPS or vice versa.

 

 

How Fast We Ship Your Order:

For over a decade, we have shipped 99.8% of all orders within 1 business day, the vast majority within a few hours of the order being placed.

 

We have been able to do this because we keep a heavy inventory of all our parts.

 

Unfortunately COVID, in addition to slower shipping, has also disrupted supply chains of raw and finished goods.  Sometimes we are just not able to get enough material to make all our parts and have them on the shelf 100% of the time.

 

We are still able to ship out 98% of our parts within 1 business day, but sometimes there may be a delay in getting your order shipped out.  If the delay extends beyond a few days we will notify you.
